Dr. Ramesh joined as a lecturer at Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute and went on to become the principal, professor & HOD of Dept. of Orthopaedics & Physiotherapy there, tirelessly guiding and inspiring the next generation of doctors. Taking the leadership role at a 60-year-old reputed institution was a daunting task indeed, but one that Dr. Ramesh was willing to take head-on. During his tenure, he was responsible for crucial infrastructure development including building waiting rooms for patients, duty & washrooms for staff, students & nurses, Orthotics & Prosthetics facilities, and introducing biometric attendance.
For the students, he oversaw the purchase of important medical equipment like OT table, C-arm, Arthroscope etc. and conducted Cadaveric workshops, Simulation workshops for improving surgical skills CME’s & Suturing skills workshops. He became the president of Bangalore Orthopaedic Society, founded the Common PG Teaching Program for all Teaching Institutions of Bangalore and started the Fellowship in Advanced Orthopaedic Trauma. He persevered to raise awareness to the public with television programmes, writing newspaper articles and giving guest lectures.
An avid cricketer himself, Dr. Ramesh Krishna has played League Cricket for the Karnataka Cricket Association and is part of the Doctors Panel of KCA. He was the Chairman of the Sports Committee at BMCRI and is also credited with starting the Sports Medicine Dept. at the institution with Rs.12.5 crores of funding from the govt.
